Massachusetts CollegeBenefits of Preventative Maintenance |
An existing Massachusetts college customer who had a preventative maintenance contract with Gustavo Preston Company was experiencing issues with their domestic water booster and pressure regulating valves (PRV’s). During a preventative maintenance visit our technician noted that the PRV’s were in poor condition and would need to be replaced. The domestic water booster was over 20 years old and it was recommended it be replaced. Due to the timing, the customer’s budget would only allow for the PRV’s to be replaced at that time. The domestic water booster would need to wait for next year’s budget. |

When the new fiscal year began, the domestic water booster system was replaced, and GPC provided a new Weil Duplex Booster system. The new system has variable frequency drives to provide better energy efficiency and was BAC Net capable, allowing the facilities team to remotely monitor the booster pump system through their building management system. Preventative maintenance programs are always a good idea for not only maintaining your pump system’s peak performance but also to determine when the end of life is near for your building equipment. This allows for better long-term planning and budgeting for system replacements. |
