Case Study Overview
As a long-standing customer of Gustavo Preston Company (GPC), when Boston College needed to service and repair an antiquated duplex ejector pumping station at the site of the Alumni Stadium, they called GPC.
The Boston College Alumni Stadium, located in the beautiful historical district of Chestnut Hill, MA, is home to the Boston College Eagles fan base. In addition to hosting football games throughout the fall season it celebrates commencement ceremonies and other various sporting events.
Boston College recognized that this duplex ejector pumping station needed an upgrade as the design of this system was seasoned. The sewerage ejector pump design required both pumps to sit on the basin floor. This made servicing of these pumps a huge effort as the piping would need to be dismantled before the pumps could be hoisted out of the pit. The servicing of this system required three service technicians due to the design and sump pit configuration. Additionally, the wet well cover was rusted and beginning to deteriorate.
After installation of Quick Removal System
To resolve this issue, GPC recommended installing two Weil ejector pumps with a Quick Removal System. The Quick Removal System allows the pumps to be pulled up on sliding brackets for easier maintenance or repair in the future.
With the installation of the Quick Removal System not only is it easier for the pump technician to access the ejector pumps but it requires one less service technician at the service call. To finish off the project a new wet well cover provided better access to the duplex Quick Removal system.
Reliable sewerage pump operation and a reduction of maintenance and inspection cost.
