In the world of mechanical rooms—where pumps, valves, and systems work quietly behind the scenes—routine care can make all the difference. At Gustavo Preston, preventative maintenance programs are designed with that philosophy in mind. Whether scheduled annually, bi-annually, or monthly, these programs offer an added layer of protection for essential equipment, especially as it begins to near the end of its useful life.
One long-term customer experienced the full value of this approach. Back in 1990, their campus science building was outfitted with a Weil submersible pump. Weil submersible pumps are true work horses. While other manufacturers have modernized and simplified their designs to reduce production costs, Weil has maintained exceptional durability by continuing to rely on proven casting and machining practices established decades ago.
From the moment the submersible pump was installed, it became part of Gustavo Preston’s yearly preventative maintenance program. Each visit brought careful inspections, performance monitoring, and detailed check-ins on the pump’s overall condition.

Over the decades, the pump remained reliable—far beyond the expectations of most mechanical equipment. But as time marched on, our technicians began to see signs that the pump was approaching the end of its remarkable run. Thanks to consistent monitoring and proactive communication, the facility manager was alerted well in advance, allowing for smooth planning and timely replacement.
In 2025, the Weil submersible pumps were finally retired after an extraordinary 35 years of service. The replacement? Of course two Weil submersible pumps.
