New England Museum Replaces Failing Humidification Pump After Years of Seal Leaks and Corrosion Damage

A museum in the New England area required a replacement pump for the hot water side of its humidification system. The existing pump had experienced ongoing mechanical seal leaks for several years, which ultimately led to corrosion damage on the pump shaft and casing.

Gustavo Preston Company supplied and installed a new Wilo IL Inline pump equipped with a mechanical seal specifically rated for high-temperature hot water applications. To accommodate the new pump, piping modifications were necessary. Gustavo Preston service team collaborated closely with the museum’s facilities plumber, providing detailed submittals and installation drawings to ensure proper fit and alignment.

After the updated piping was completed, a service technician returned to perform the startup and commissioning. The system operated successfully, and the museum now plans to replace one remaining pump to complete its transition to Wilo pumps.
